SASKATOON CYCLING CLUB APPAREL (with club logo)

http://cyclingsk.spreadshirt.com/

The Saskatoon Cycling Club has apparel available for order through Spreadshirt.  This is a website that allows for custom apparel  orders.

A “store” called CyclingSK has been created with a variety  of apparel items for men and women (and even a high visibility  vest!).  All of the items have been shown with the club red color  (or close to it), but you can order items in a variety of colors and  fabrics.

It is as easy as selecting the item that you want, in the size you need and putting it in your shopping cart and going to the checkout  — all virtually, of course.

Shipping runs about $7 per order and it will come directly to your address.

If you have a request for an item that you want but don’t see in the store, let Don know by responding to this post and he will create one.

Club Ride – Wednesday May 9th 6:30 PM

All right, the weatherman says it’s time to lube the chain, dust off the helmet and get that bike on the road.

Let the season begin!  The first Wednesday ride is this week.  For the month of May, departure time is 6:30 pm from the Broadway Roastery on Broadway at the top of the Broadway Bridge.

As you probably know last year we were meeting in Stonebridge but for this year we have decided that we will move back to our old meeting spot the Broadway Roastery.

This Wednesday we are planning a ride of perhaps 1 1/2 hours, nothing to strenuous.

Reminder: If you have not yet paid your club dues please do so by following the link to the Saskatchewan cycling Association on the right.

Sunday September 11 Ride

We are planning a (relatively) short ride on Sunday September 11.  We are leaving Stonebridge at 10 a.m., probably going as far as Beaver Creek and aiming to be back at the WDM for brunch (they do a really good omelet!)

Fall Ride Changes

Hey, riders!

The weather says it is still summer, but the amount of daylight says otherwise!

As there is no point in arguing with Mother Nature, we will be adjusting our ride times instead.

The club rides will now be Tuesday and Thursday, starting at 6:00. That should give us time to have a decent ride and get back before it is too dark and cool.

Tuesdays will be from Stonebridge A & W parking lot – just like Wednesdays! The Thursday rides will be decided based on the wind.

For the first couple of these rides, could you please respond to this email if you are planning on joining us? That way, we will know who to wait for.

GASP 2011 Tour News

That’s a wrap! (Courtesy of Don Cook)

With nearly 700 km’s under their wheels, the participants of the 2011 GASP tour
rolled into Humboldt.  The tour began with three days of “above
average” temperatures and it was a relief on day four to be greeted with
overcast skies.  Regardless of the weather, the landscape and communities
of the tour route were stunning — the blooming yellow fields of canola,
spectacular vistas along the Saskatchewan River valley, the hospitality of
Choiceland and its Mayor, the refreshment of a swim in Greenwater Lake.

Kudos to Tour Leader Bob Cochran for his leadership, attention to detail, and
communication.  The unsung hero of the tour, Denise Eberle, Executive
Director of the Saskatchewan Cycling Association, puts in a lot of hours on the
tour logistics and community arrangements that are so important in making the
the tour possible.  Our heartfelt thanks go out to both of you.

2011 Tour Video

Now showing on a small screen near you — GASP 2011 “The
Movie”.  I had fun putting together some of the photos and video that
I captured on the trip with some music that was rattling around in my
head.  This is not the official documentary of GASP but rather my
experience of the tour.  You can enjoy it here.
