Bar-b-que and other stuff

Hey, riders!

Well, the response has been less than overwhelming. It seems that everyone is out of town or busy with other stuff.

So, we will not be holding a get together this Friday. Consider it postponed until August. More information to follow.

Don’t forget the Wednesday rides. Even if there is no email going out, the ride is on. Like everyone else, I have a busy summer and don’t always get to my computer.

Let me know if there is interest in weekend rides. This email is also monitored by other people, even if I am not around.

See you on the road.

Suncycle 2011

Suncycle 2011 was a success!  We had a lot of people stop by our tent asking about the club or to get their bike tires pumped up with summer air. 🙂  I have posted some pictures at http://saskatooncyclingclub.shutterfly.com/

It was also encouraged to become a member of Saskatoon Cycles.  Saskatoon Cycles is Saskatoon’s Cycling Advocacy Group.  “Saskatoon Cycles advocates for a city in which cycling is a viable, year-round, mode of transportation that is safe and convenient for all ages.” – Mission Statement of the Saskatoon’s Cycling Advocacy Group. Saturday May 28th

Sorry about the lateness of this Post but weather dictates spur of the moment decisions.

Since I cannot ride tomorrow and there is a  60% chance of rain this afternoon I have
decided to do a morning ride to Aberdeen leaving at around 9:30 am this morning.

Please comment immediately if you would like to join in.

Wednesday May 25 ride

Hey, riders!

It’s Wednesday again! Time to be out riding.

Last week, it was a great ride out south, around on Baker Road, and over the humps on Clarence!

The weekend saw a bunch go out to Aberdeen, which is uphill, and against the wind! It makes for a quicker trip home, but you earn it!

The weather isn’t summer-hot yet, but it is great for riding. Shake off the winter and come on out for a ride!

6:30 at the A & W at Stonebridge.

See you on the road!

May 18th Ride Report

A rather small turnout but a very nice ride even though it was quite windy at times.

We ended up doing the Cranberry Flats Loop (see map page) with a small side loop through the Riverside Golf and Country Club. The country side is in full spring bloom and we got to see a few deer enjoying all the new growth.

The 1.6 km of gravel on Baker Road from Cranberry Flats to Lorne Avenue is not too bad although a little loose, I suspect manageable by all excluding very skinny tires.

We came back straight up Clarence over the new overpass which we have been avoiding up till now and its not that bad. Of course the downhill makes it worth while.

After ride refreshments were at the Stonebridge A&W, most of us got good service but don’t ask James.

Keep tuned for upcoming weekend rides.

Sunday Rides – update

Hey, riders!

Sorry about the silence this weekend. I couldn’t get into the email for some
reason!

There will be at least one, maybe 2 rides on Sunday. There are a few people
who want to ride out from Poor Boys (corner of 11th Street and Highway 7). I
don’t think I am going to have transport for my bike tomorrow, so I will
probably be riding south toward Beaver Creek. I won’t be leaving until around 2.

If you are interested in either one of these rides, let me know by return
email, or send a reply to the blog. (www.saskatooncyclingclub.wordpress.com)

See you on the road!
