Sunday September 11 Ride

We are planning a (relatively) short ride on Sunday September 11.  We are leaving Stonebridge at 10 a.m., probably going as far as Beaver Creek and aiming to be back at the WDM for brunch (they do a really good omelet!)

Hope to see you there!

Fall Ride Changes

Hey, riders!

The weather says it is still summer, but the amount of daylight says otherwise!

As there is no point in arguing with Mother Nature, we will be adjusting our ride times instead.

The club rides will now be Tuesday and Thursday, starting at 6:00. That should give us time to have a decent ride and get back before it is too dark and cool.

Tuesdays will be from Stonebridge A & W parking lot – just like Wednesdays! The Thursday rides will be decided based on the wind.

For the first couple of these rides, could you please respond to this email if you are planning on joining us? That way, we will know who to wait for.

Club BBQ Reminder -Thursday, Aug. 25th

Hello all,

Yes! The bbq is going ahead!  We have a location thanks to Don Cook and his
family.

WHAT/WHEN: SCC BBQ Night — Thursday, August 25th @ 6:30
pm.

WHERE : (Please leave a comment or email  <clubinfo@saskatooncyclingclub.ca>  if you need to know Don’s address)
—-The Cook’s will be hosting the Saskatoon Cycling Club BBQ this year in
their backyard.

Arrive anytime after 6:30pm and there will be burgers and
smokies on the grill. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share and your own
beverages.

COST :  The BBQ is
FREE to all club members and their immediate families.

OTHERS : We would ask that non-club members(non-family)
that would like to attend contribute $5 to cover food expenses. This would give
you an opportunity to meet the club members.

MS TOUR : A couple of club members are riding in this
year’s MS Tour and we will be collecting donations for those riders. (Suggested
$2 per person or more!)

PARKING : Ample bike parking available.

RSVP by Aug. 24th: A response to this invitation is GREATLY
APPRECIATION as it makes for much easier planning (which means we would like to
hear from you even if you can’t make it).

Thanks

GASP 2011 Tour News

That’s a wrap! (Courtesy of Don Cook)

With nearly 700 km’s under their wheels, the participants of the 2011 GASP tour
rolled into Humboldt.  The tour began with three days of “above
average” temperatures and it was a relief on day four to be greeted with
overcast skies.  Regardless of the weather, the landscape and communities
of the tour route were stunning — the blooming yellow fields of canola,
spectacular vistas along the Saskatchewan River valley, the hospitality of
Choiceland and its Mayor, the refreshment of a swim in Greenwater Lake.

Kudos to Tour Leader Bob Cochran for his leadership, attention to detail, and
communication.  The unsung hero of the tour, Denise Eberle, Executive
Director of the Saskatchewan Cycling Association, puts in a lot of hours on the
tour logistics and community arrangements that are so important in making the
the tour possible.  Our heartfelt thanks go out to both of you.

A Shutterfly site has been set up for tour participants to post their photos
and for everyone to view.  It can be found at: Click Here

The site is beginning to be populated with photos.  Check back often to

2011 Tour Video

Now showing on a small screen near you — GASP 2011 “The
Movie”.  I had fun putting together some of the photos and video that
I captured on the trip with some music that was rattling around in my
head.  This is not the official documentary of GASP but rather my
experience of the tour.  You can enjoy it here.

Bar-b-que and other stuff

Hey, riders!

Well, the response has been less than overwhelming. It seems that everyone is out of town or busy with other stuff.

So, we will not be holding a get together this Friday. Consider it postponed until August. More information to follow.

Don’t forget the Wednesday rides. Even if there is no email going out, the ride is on. Like everyone else, I have a busy summer and don’t always get to my computer.

Let me know if there is interest in weekend rides. This email is also monitored by other people, even if I am not around.

See you on the road.
